Vision or Motivation: Which Comes First?

Does motivation have anything to do with vision or being a visionary? And does vision have anything to do with being motivated?

From my experience, these two attributes work hand in hand.

When you have a vision; when you can see the potential in something or foresee the future of a project, it automatically fuels your inspiration and motivates you toward achieving that goal.

Spiritual Vision: The Roadmap to Success

Before action comes imagination; the image in your mind’s eye or even a higher vision forming in your third eye.

  • The clarity of that image provides the roadmap for your project or moving in a certain direction.

  • If you are willing to believe in it and stick to it; it will be the end goal of the new road you will take and that vision becomes your destination.

  • The road may be long, filled with twists, turns, and challenges, but staying motivated and focused on the outcome will lead to success. We can also call his "long term goal".

Taking a path no one has traveled before can feel uncertain and even scary.

  • This is where it’s important to return to your original spiritual vision your foreseen goal ; to review it, refine it, and revive it to stay on track and inspired.

  • Doing so ensures you don’t lose sight of the end goal.

Motivation: The Fuel That Keeps You Moving

Think of motivation as gasoline in your car,it powers you through the journey. Whereas vision is the end product of your desired outcome, like the destination the car takes you to.

  • Vision is the destination,

  • Motivation is what keeps you on the righ road while providing energy to keep going.

Without spiritual vision, motivation won’t last, it will slowly dissipate because there’s no clear direction and goal to keep it alive.

This is why people create mood boards, to provide a visual representation of their goals and aspirations. It help them stay motivated, focused, inspired. Evey time they look a their mood board, it re-ignites their desire to get "there" (the end goal).

It gives them strengh and confidence again of their next move. It helps them to stay focused and move in the right direction.

It is a physical vision. something tangible they can refer to and refresh their memory of why they on this journey.

When I worked in the fashion industry for a French Forecasting Trend Agency, we would create seasonal mood boards to tell a story about where fashion was heading.

  • These mood boards were translated into fashion pages, concise, digestible guides, extremely inspirational, and comprehensible bite sizes for our clients to use and apply to their collection that year.

    That was the VISION.

  • In turn, our clients were inspired to create their collections and this gave them a roadmap to follow and not deviate too much from the fashion trend that year.

That was the INSPIRATION and MOTIVATION.

The vision came first. The motivation and inspiration followed.

How to Cultivate Spirtual Vision & Inspiration

But what if you don’t have a vision? What if nothing is coming through your imagination?

There are many ways you can induce or help your spiritual body (where true inspiration comes from) show you the way and awaken inspiration, which helps you nurture and develop your ability to create.

  • Engaging in a Daily Spiritual Practice

is one of the most powerful ways to cultivate clarity, stability, and spiritual vision over time.

This is something I teach step by step in my online program Awaken & Align, designed to support you whether you are just beginning your spiritual journey or seeking deeper consistency and inspiration along the way.

A daily spiritual practice naturally elevates your mood, quiets mental noise, and clears inner dross. As the mind settles, spiritual vision and inspiration arise on their own, effortlessly and organically, rather than through force or willpower.

  • A cluttered mind blocks visions.

  • When Soul expresses itself, you will feel happy, in the flow, and childlike.

The universe of God is infinite and multi faceted. OUR own Soul is inherently creative and made in the image of God, which is also multi-faceted. We have inside of ourselves all the tools to be creative, have visions (the roadmap) and be inspired to actuate whatever we are drawn to.

Taking Action: The Missing Piece

Having a vision is one thing. Taking action is another.

Taking action is the bridge between spiritual vision and manifestation. Without action, even the clearest vision remains an idea rather than a lived experience.

Action is an essential part of the creative and manifestation process. It is our responsibility if we want to bring into form what we see in our mind’s eye. And yet, taking action is often the very thing that keeps us from achieving what we know we should do, or deeply aspire to do.

The mind is incredibly creative. As soon as a new idea or project arises, it begins running through every possible scenario it might face. Very quickly, it focuses on the negative outcomes, the potential downfalls, and imagined obstacles. Eventually, it reaches a familiar conclusion: it’s not worth it, therefore, I shouldn’t pursue this at all.

What happened?

Fear stepped in, and brought the entire project to a halt.

The mind is so powerful that it can negate and destroy inspiration very quickly if left unchecked.

How many times have you lived this?

I certainly have.

This is where inspiration must be very strong. It has to come from deep within, strong enough to anchor you, so you stay with your vision long enough to make it real.

But inspiration alone is not enough.

The next step is learning how to redirect the mind, training it to work for you instead of against you. This is where real transformation begins.

In Rewire Your Mind, I share an in-depth approach to recognizing and interrupting mental sabotage patterns before they take over. When I discovered how to counter my own mind and its deeply ingrained negative viewpoints, everything shifted for me instantly. I am not exaggerating.

If you’d like to go deeper into this process, I explore how to train the mind to become an ally—not an obstacle on the spiritual path in Training Your Mind: How It Becomes an Ally on the Spiritual Journey.

I also write about how spiritual vision takes form through imagination and conscious focus in Take Charge of Your Life by Harnessing the Power of Imagination.
