How to make colloidal silver at home
After years of seeing how effective colloidal silver has been for me, my family, and all of my animals (yes—dogs, cats, chickens, and even a wild kitten named Stark), I decided to start making it myself.
It’s actually one of the easiest, cheapest, and most satisfying things you can learn to make at home. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
You don’t need a lab, fancy equipment, or even much space. Just a small investment up front—and you’ll be making your own healing remedy for years to come. This is why making Colloidal Silver at home is easy, fast & inexpensive
What You’ll Need To Make Colloidal Silver at Home

Here’s what I use and recommend:
Colloidal Silver Generator Kit – I use the Chris Colloidal Silver Generator Kit from Amazon. It's compact, affordable, and comes with everything you will ever need and has great instructions.
Distilled Water – Only distilled! Don’t use tap or filtered. Can be bought at your local grocery store.
925 Sterling Silver Wire – Included in the kit.
Glass container – I use a 1-gallon glass jar from Walmart or Amazon. You can also use a mason jar.
Coffee Filters – Included in the kit.
Amber glass bottles – For storing the solution. Look for:
Kitchentoolz 32 oz (4-pack)
Vivaplex 16 oz (12-pack)
Sally’s Organic Store 32 oz (2-pack) –These are the one I use at home!
How to Make It – Step-by-Step
Pour distilled water into your clean glass container.
Attach the silver rods to the generator lid (included in the kit).
Place the Silver Wire into the water—make sure they do not touch each other, or the sides/bottom of the jar.
Plug it in and let it sit.
Timing: Let it process for anywhere between 4 to 8 hours, depending on how much you're making and your altitude. I live at 7300 ft elevation and it takes about 8 hours for 1 gallon.
💡Pro tip: I give the water a gentle swirl once or twice, but honestly, I often forget and it turns out fine!

How Do You Know It’s Done?

This is why I love the kit—it comes with an infrared laser pen that makes it foolproof.
Shine the laser through the side of the glass jar.
If you see a clear red beam across the solution, it’s ready!
If the line is faint or not visible, give it another hour or two.
Once that red line is clearly visible, it means the silver particles have been released into the water at the proper strength.
After It’s Done
Unplug the machine and remove the silver wire.
Clean the silver wire immediately using the sponge from the kit and plain water. No soap.
Pour the finished CS into your amber bottles.
You can filter it if you prefer a cleaner solution. I don’t usually bother—any larger particles settle naturally at the bottom, and I avoid shaking the bottle when pouring.
Storing Your Colloidal Silver
Keep your bottles in a cool, dark place—a pantry, cellar, or garage works great.
Avoid heat, light, and plastic containers.
It’ll last a full year or more when stored properly. I usually only need to make one or two big batch per year for my entire household (including my animals).
Why I Love Making It
Making your own colloidal silver is empowering. You’re taking your health (and your animals' health!) into your own hands—no more overpriced tiny bottles, no need to run to the store or vet when something comes up.
It’s non-toxic, multi-purpose, and gives me real peace of mind.
Yes, you’ll read warnings online. Yet this old home remedy has been used for 100s of years!
My advice? Try it. Use it for a minor sore throat or a small cut. See how it works for your dog’s cough or your chicken’s wheeze. You’ll understand very quickly why I’ll never be without it again.
