I never thought I’d be that person who talks about colloidal silver like it’s liquid gold—but here I am. And for good reason.

Years ago, I was lucky to have a neighbor who made colloidal silver himself. (check out my next post on how to make colloidal silver at home)

Anytime I needed it, he’d hand me a bottle like it was no big deal. At the time, I had no idea how powerful it really was—I just knew it worked.

Fast-forward to today, and I now make my own at home and use it for absolutely everything: my animals, my family, and even the wild birds that visit our property.

Let me explain why colloidal silver is something I always have on hand.

What Is Colloidal Silver, Anyway?

Colloidal silver is a suspension of pure silver particles in distilled water.

It’s been used for centuries as a natural antibiotic, long before the pharmacy became the go-to place for medicine.

Back in the days of American settlers, people discovered that water stored in silver containers—or even just a silver coin dropped into a barrel—stayed clean longer. And if someone got sick with a fever, flu, or respiratory infection, they’d drink silver-infused water. Often, symptoms would vanish within a day or two.

And honestly? That’s still how it works.

🐾 How I Use Colloidal Silver for My Animals

Let’s start with my dogs and cats. We live at high altitude in New Mexico, and between the winds, dust, and seasonal viruses, they’re constantly exposed to stuff that can weaken their immune systems.

If I hear sneezing or coughing from my dogs, I add colloidal silver to their communal water bowl. My cats drink from it too, so it ends up benefiting the whole furry crew.

The result? Usually within minutes, or by the end of the day, the coughing and sneezing disappear. No vet visits, no meds—just clean immune support from something natural.

One of the most memorable times I used colloidal silver was when I rescued a wild kitten from a neighbor. I needed a barn cat because we had a packrat and mouse infestation on the property—not in the house, thankfully, but all around the land and in the barn.

Living in the East Mountains of New Mexico, rodents and predators are just part of life. A good barn cat is one of the most natural ways to keep those pests in check.

This kitten—whom I named Stark (yes, after the Game of Thrones family)—was barely weaned and born from a wild mother. I set him up in the barn inside a kennel, trying to keep him semi-wild for his future role. I spent weeks cleaning part of that barn to make it livable for him, battling dust and old packrat nests. I wore a mask and took it slow—at the time, I was recovering from a TBI, so my energy was limited, and every task took longer than usual.

Looking back, that barn wasn’t safe for either of us. After two weeks, Stark started coughing—hard. His tiny body would convulse with each cough like he was about to vomit. I panicked. He was still so small, and I felt guilty for leaving him out there alone every night.

I was about to take him to the vet when my neighbor suggested colloidal silver. I began giving it to him 3 to 4 times a day, along with colostrum-LD from Sovereign Lab, and like magic—he recovered quickly. Within days, he was better. I was so relieved and grateful.

That was the moment I brought him into the house. He became my little indoor-outdoor buddy. I could call him in before bed and he'd trot home to sleep inside. Healthy, strong, and playful—Stark thrived.

🐔 Chickens and Bird Flu? No Problem.

Now, let’s talk about chickens.

In winter, my hens can be exposed to Bird Flu—especially since wild birds love to share their water and food. In New Mexico, we’re often one of the first states hit by outbreaks, and many farms end up having to cull their entire flocks.

To me, that feels insane—especially when one shot of colloidal silver in the water (about 10- 15ppm in strength) can turn things around in a matter of hours.

I usually add about half a cup of colloidal silver to their water bowls or pans, making sure they don’t have access to untreated water. Within hours, they’re better. Healthy, active, and pecking around like nothing happened.

I’ve even witnessed it firsthand…

💥 Real Story: The Hen Who Almost Died and how used Colloidal Silver to Save Her!

The other day, I saw one of my hens coughing so badly she collapsed onto her belly. Her breathing was labored, wheezing, and I thought—this might be it.

I grabbed VetRx (an essential oil-based remedy for respiratory issues), rubbed it on her nostrils and comb, and then gave her a dropper full of undiluted colloidal silver. She swallowed slowly.

Ten minutes later, after I finished cleaning the coop, I looked over… and she was walking and eating like nothing had happened. I’m still amazed. But this kind of recovery happens every time I use CS.

This is how I use Colloidal Silver for my furry and feathered family!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 How I Use Colliodal Silver for Myself and My Family

I’m a holistic health consultant and never take any synthetic medication—no aspirin, no antibiotics. I rely on nature and what works with my body, not against it.

If I start feeling rundown or sense a sore throat coming on, I’ll add colloidal silver to my water for a few days.

Honestly, most of the time I forget to keep taking it because I feel better within an hour.

And if I actually get sick? I’ll take CS three times a day along with other natural remedies like colostrum-LD, which helps repair the gut lining and boosts the immune system. The combo of Colostrum + Colloidal Silver is my go-to protocol for just about anything.

🧴 Other Everyday Uses of Colloidal Silver

You can spray colloidal silver on your face to help with seasonal allergies, apply it to wounds or skin infections, or even use it in your eyes if needed. It’s antibacterial, healing, and safe for humans and animals.

One product I love is Silver Honey by Absorbine—it’s perfect for wounds, and I don’t have to worry about my dogs licking it off. It’s 100% natural and effective.

You can buy the ointment for yourself and use the spray for your animals. Either or they are safe for everyone.

Final Thoughts: Don’t Knock It Until You Try It

Yes, I’ve read the warnings online. Yes, I’ve seen the skepticism. But nothing replaces direct experience.

For me, colloidal silver is one of the most useful, effective, inexpensive, and non-toxic remedies I’ve ever used. It’s truly multi-purpose and something I’ll never be without again.

In my next post, I’ll share exactly how I make it at home (it’s super easy and way cheaper than buying it pre-made). Whether you want to try it first or go all-in and start making your own, this is one remedy worth having on hand.
